The Future Photographers Lab was a ten-week professional development project for young and emerging photographers.
Presented by Dr James Farley and Mr Patrick Ronald from F.Stop Workshop as part of their residence at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, this lab continued the strong tradition of new photographic practice emanating from the Riverina and aimed to inspire and support the next generation of local photographers. They transformed the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery’s Project Media Lab into a working space for artists to host critiques of work-in-progress, share new work, and to participate in a range of workshops and public lectures with guest speakers.
The Future Photographers Lab featured:
Molly Burley, James Farley, Brittany Hefren, Tayla Martin, Patrick Ronald, and Ash Smith.
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery – 24 September 2022 – 4 December 2022
Over the project’s ten weeks, I went from an underdeveloped idea to producing a fully fleshed out application for my first solo exhibition – Windows of Wondering. The ability to receive feedback in the early stages of my project from both peers and the broader community accelerated the development of my work and was a welcome change from working in the isolation of my home studio.
