The works in Self and Surrounds are remixed reinterpretations of the ideas and images within Neighbourhood Notes, highlighting the ever changing shifting perceptions of place, as self and surrounds morph and change with time and attention. These new works use the shape and size of sticky notes to reflect on the idea of draft thoughts and the compartmentalised experience of drawing ideas and layered memories from ones surroundings.
About the Exhibition:
Nest Studio is a female-led collective of regional emerging artists who are in the early stages of their career, recent creative graduates or in their final year of study. In their debut group exhibition ‘Self and Surrounds’ the Nest highlighted the diverse ways in which we experience and interpret the world around us.
Through distorted spaces, changing landscapes and finding beauty in the everyday, Nest Studio explored the places and spaces that have become the focus of their practice over the last year.
The exhibition featured work by all 5 members of Nest Studio Collective and was on show at The Curious Rabbit through the month of September 2022.
