Thinking about thinking is a series of mixed media works using photography and digital illustration with the aim of encouraging the viewer to consider their own ways of thinking. The idea for this series evolved out of my pondering the impact of thought patterns and self-awareness on quality of life when observing the response to the isolation created by COVID-19 in those around me. The awareness of our own thoughts is known as metacognition, which allows us to monitor the effectiveness of our thinking and adjust our next decisions based on that feedback. This kind of self-awareness leads to better regulation of emotion and response to complexity and conflict.
